It's true to say that when it comes to trucks, a proud history counts for plenty. Ford's proud heritage of building 'Tough-Trucks' continues with the new Ranger. Ranger builds on a well-earned "Tough-Truck" heritage and takes it to a new and more refined level of interior comfort and handling, yet maintaining huge payload and towing capacities and enhancing the muscular exterior design and functionality.

LOADED WITH STANDARD FEATURES

On the outside they simply don't come any tougher than Ranger, but inside is another story altogether. The Ford Ranger is fully loaded with standard features. In fact, when you settle into the sculptured seats the interior feels more like a family sedan than a truck, even more so when you consider that power windows, power side mirrors, central locking, engine immobiliser and remote keyless entry with 2 key fobs are all standard features.

4-DOOR DUAL REAR ACCESS SYSTEM

Ranger's new looks are as impressive as its Super Cab cabin design, which features a 4-door Dual Rear Access System. The rear passenger doors are hinged at the rear of the vehicle and open the opposite way to the front doors. Open all four doors and you have unobstructed access to the spacious interior from both sides and greater versatility for storage. LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL (LSD)

RANGER HI-RIDER

The new Ford Ranger comes in an innovative model style - the 4x2 Hi-Rider. This is a 4x2 vehicle that features suspension characteristics of a 4x4. The Hi-Rider models feature a 3.0L turbo diesel engine and a higher ground clearance than standard 4x2 models- providing greater functionality for work applications and creating a more commanding road presence. They also feature a Limited Slip Differential, delivering improved traction and handling over irregular and slippery surfaces. The Hi-Rider is a more economical option for those who don't need all the capability of a 4x4, but who desire greater ground clearance and better handling.

CHOICE OF 2 TRANSMISSIONS

A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on most Ranger models, providing smooth shifting capability for sedan-like driving. Selected Ranger 3.0L models are available with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission features closely spaced gear ratios to help make the best use of the advanced turbo diesel engine.

4X4 SHIFT-ON-THE-FLY

Ranger 4x4 models have the ability to shift from 2WD to 4WD, and back, whilst the vehicle is in motion.

The Ranger 4x4 models feature one of two types of 4WD transfer- manual shift or electric shift- depending on the transmission type.

All 4WD manual-transmission models come with a manual shift lever and standard remote electric front wheel hub locks. This gear lever can operate in either 2WD, 4WD High or 4WD Low.

All 4WD automatic-transmission models feature an electric-shift motor system to shift between 2WD and 4WD modes. This selector switch, located on the dash, allows the driver to move between 2WD and 4WD "on-the-fly", allowing effortless shift engagement.
